Pyrolysis technology: ENVIRONMENTAL AND TECHNOLOGICAL ASPECTS

Section: News, Useful information

One of the waste thermal treatment trends is the move from incineration technology to pyrolysis. Implementation of pyrolysis provides the reduction of waste amount accumulated from the process, valuable products, minimal environmental footprint than incineration one. The only shortage is that the range of waste that possibly cost-effective for pyrolysis process is limited.

All these aspects of pyrolysis technology implemented in Thermal Decomposition Plants as a solution for the waste treatment were raised at workshop in February this year in St. Petersburg, Russia. The demonstration of Thermal Decomposition Plant  in operation was carried out to get acquainted the participants with the principles and technological features of pyrolysis equipment on the first day of the training workshop.  The equipment is manufactured for the treatment of hydrocarbon-based materials: from waste feeding to discharging of the final products. Drilling waste and oil slime were used as feedstock, the conditioning products such as pyrolysis oil and dry residue (biochar) were obtained from the process.

A list of questions and decisions discussed at a workshop on pyrolysis technology and equipment operation were published in an article of the magazine Ecology of Production on June 2015. We believe that might be interested for professionals of oil and gas industry.
